Aye Captains,

A little update from VORG HQ.

With over 83.000 boats in the Indian Ocean it looks like piracy is not a real threat anymore! Though our servers had some start-up troubles with all the boats in these rough conditions, by now we hit calm weather and have all the controls back in our hands.

After perfect sailing condition in the beginning of this LEG, we have hit the Doldrums for the second time this race. For the winners this is already over, but for all people still in open sea,

Good luck!

The French domination

To be honest the first leg was dominated by the French, but in the second LEG globalisation has hit the VORG. In the top 5 are 5 different countries represented and non of them is French. So truly a major shift in the overall ranking!

Also we see more and more Spanish sailors on our waters now that they've got their own translation. But so far they did not manage to get into the top 10. Good luck for the next LEG guys!

The winners
The've all just finished so most of them probably went straight to bed, glad the race was done. Unlike LEG 1 many countries can be proud on their best finishing in the top 100. Also special congratulations to INC LLC for finishing in the top 10 for a second time! Underneath you can see a full list of the ten best players of LEG 2: As promised these people will recieve some very nice prices. For anyone curious, we've listed them here:
  • For Stara Brokva, the winner of LEG 2, we have a special edition TNG Watch.
  • For all players mentioned above, you will receive an Extreme 40 cap and long sleeve.
  • For the first time we will have a prize for the first "Woman of the World" who went on shore in Cochin, in this case the Dutch PukPuk! She will receive the female version of a TNG watch!

Here come the Girls!

From all 4 corners of the globe and representing about 20 nations, 125 Woman of the World are partying their way to St Petersburg. Although, the girls might be singing (Hulie and Evergreen 6), writing poetry (Sharkbait), being distracted by film star crews (Secret Squirrel) and drinking far too many cocktails, they are still finding the time to sail magnificently. With PukPuk in 52nd place in LEG 2 and 4 women in the top 1000 in Leg 1, this group of women is really showing the boys how it's done.

So, who will be the Top Lady Helm in the VOR? All Women of the World are welcome to join the group to stake their claim to the title.

Boats who did not round the Mauritius mark

There was a handful of people who did not round the buoy without getting a penalty. Many sailors noted these people and reported them to the helpdesk. We started investigating these mysterious ghost ships. It turned out that there was a technical problem that was causing the penalty not to be applied correctly. Normally those players would have been unable to finish, but because a relatively large number of these sailors had connection problems, due to their local providers, we have decided to give them a penalty instead.
This means that all boats which did not round the buoy properly and did not get any penalty have been placed behind the pilot boat as a compromise.

Stand by on channel 16 for further updates!
