HOW DO YOU WIN THE VIRTUAL VOLVO OCEAN RACE?
The Virtual Volvo Ocean Race Game will be governed by the Virtual Volvo Ocean Race Game official rules as set out below. Any disputes will be decided by the UnitedGames Jury which consists of a panel of 3 of which 1 will be a representative of United Games (Marijn Harinck), 1 will be representative of Virtual Regatta (Phillipe Guigne) and 1 will be representative of TornadoSport (Alan Hillman).
OverviewThe winning Yacht( Need to be consistent through game) of the Virtual Volvo Ocean Race Game will need to combine their best finishes in legs 1-9. Their best 6 leg scores shall count but these must include legs 5,7 and 9. There is also the chance to boost your Yacht's position up the leader board by picking the Yacht of the real VOR in-port races.
CourseThe course to be sailed for each leg shall be as designated by the VOR itself and all gates/waypoints etc must be observed by all Yachts in the Virtual Volvo Ocean race Game.
Scoring for each leg of the Virtual Ocean race GameEach leg of The Virtual Ocean Race Game series will use a low points scoring system eg 1st will score 1 point. 2nd will score 2 points, 3rd will score 3 points and so on. If you do not start the leg, finish the leg or are disqualified you will score the number of entries in the leg plus 1.
The overall score for the Virtual Ocean Race Game shall be determined by adding together the accumulated scores of the Yacht's best 6 scores from legs 1 to 9 (discarding the 3 worst) but these must include the points scored in legs 5, 7 and 9. The Yacht with the lowest score will be the winner.
A Yacht that correctly selects the winning team of a LEG in the actual VOR Race shall receive a nice bonus. The bonus will be awarded prior to the start of the next LEG.
TiesIf there is a tie between 2 or more Yachts in the Overall Score for the Virtual Ocean Race Game each Yacht's scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the Yacht(s) with the best score(s). No discarded scores shall be used.
If a tie still remains between 2 or more Yachts, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by taking the> tied Yachts' scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are discarded scores.
PrizesPrizes for the first Yacht shall be awarded for each of the 10 Virtual Volvo Ocean Race legs. The prize for the overall winner of the Virtual Volvo Ocean Race will be a Volvo C30 which will be presented in St. Petersburg.
